Oracle E-Business Suite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP mySAP or SAP B1 (Business One) – these ERPs are located for the Brazilian market based on tax and regulatory compliance, as well as Portuguese interface and language support. Features such as multicurrency support are common to all leading ERP brands, but location dilemmas also include such country-specific modules as payroll and HR, manufacturing (especially reporting to control authorities), state and municipal taxes.
When the multinational company launches its operations in Brazil or another country, the MRP selection dilemma is probably one of the first to speak. The realities of international business should be considered from all possible sides and possible problematic points. Let’s give you the questionnaire.
o Centralized control. In your headquarters, you would like to have control over ERP data registration, reporting, management resources, etc. The meaning of control is typically wider than it appears in the original location. Consider hypothetical situations when you need to make changes to your overseas finance department management team. To ensure your flexibility in this scenario, the ERP system must be “understandable” (English support) and its interface should be standard: Microsoft, SAP, Oracle or another recognizable worldwide brand – this allows you to find a qualified manager, who understands and shares your business ideology and is familiar with the MRP interface
o Government Audit. If you plan to implement your headquarters ERP, which is not recognized worldwide, you can expect this system-customized “localization” will not convince local audit authorities. In some cases, you are still okay – if you do not sell or provide services in Brazil, if you only export your production, e.g.
o Salary and HR functionality. It is known problem with worldwide ERPs – they have to optimize their localization efforts for the specific country. Wage legislation can be considered the second part. In Brazil, payroll is certainly better automated by locally developed ERP, such as Microsiga. On the other hand, pay points may be realized in local specialized pay automation application, and financial data may be relatively easily integrated with ERP
or industry vertical. Transportation Industry: Bill of Lading, Monthly Agent Regulation Report, Hazardous Material Transportation Documentation – These types of vertical and horizontal features are good candidates for customization. We give you examples of business logic where you need to be ready to hire local customization experts
o Local versus worldwide brands. This question requires a deep analysis. Worldwide branding allows you to maintain worldwide control of your ERP, while local MRP allows you to comply with local law, including such “difficult” areas as payroll, human resources, local taxation, etc.
