Software and information are both stored by centrally located servers and not on an end-user’s computer. Computer programs are hosted and operated via the Internet. These applications use large data centers and servers to host web applications and services. People can access the required information using any device connected to an internet. It is not required that they only have access to the information from their desk. They can even do it through their handsets.
Applicability and market opportunity: This is more advantageous especially for small business people for whom heavy IT spending is out of budget. This system helps them become more productive without spending much on internal technical equipment. There are some features that can only be accessed through desktop applications, such as high-power calculations in spreadsheets. However, a large amount of data can be accessed via cloud computing, which is usually impossible via desktop applications. Even the latest desktop can only process about 3 billion metrics per second. With this system, anyone from anywhere in the world can create a company at a relatively inexpensive price that can compete with almost anyone.
