The appointment comes after the Bank Boards Bureau (BBB), the headhunter of state banks and financial institutions, recommended Jaishankar on March 15. The position lied vacant for three years before the appointment.
Prior to this, Jaishankar served as CEO of the National Housing Bank. His most recent posting was approved by the Cabinet Appointment Committee headed by the Prime Minister Naredra Modi.
The ministry also appointed Harsha Bangari as Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DMD) of Exim Bank. Prior to that, she was the bank’s chief executive officer (CGM).
While VSV Rao, CEO of IFCI has been appointed DMD of Small Industries Development Bank of India for three years, CGM of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development Sunil Kumar Bansal takes over as DMD of IFCI.
