NPAs of BoB, Indian Bank appear multiple times in 6 years: RTI data


Kota: Assets that are not performed Bank of Baroda increased more than six times to Rs 73,140 crore while off Indian Bank rose six times to Rs 32,561.26 crore in six years, according to a right to information response. the NPA of Bank of Baroda (BoB) increased from Rs 11,876 crore at the end of March 2014 to Rs 73,140 crore at the end of December 2019, the RTI response showed.

The number of NPA accounts increased from 2.08.035 per. March 31, 2014 to $ 6,117,306 December 2019.

Indian Bank NPAs rose from Rs 8,068.05 crore per annum. March 31, 2014 to Rs 32,561.26 crore per share. March 31, 2020.

NPA accounts increased to 5.64,816 as of the previous year. March 31, 2020 from 2,48,921 as of March 31, 2014, in response to RTI inquiries about the number of NPA accounts and the total amount filed by Kota-based activist Sujeet Swami.

The RTI data also showed that the state lenders earned a huge amount from SMS warning service fees, minimum fees, cabinet fees, credit card service fees, outward, inward, general ledger fees, among others.

As per the response, the Bank of Baroda collected Rs 107.7 crore through SMS alarm fee during April 1, 2018 to February 29, 2020. Indian Bank collected around Rs 21 crore through SMS service fee during the same period.

Swami said: “My motive for filing RTI was to uncover NPA amounts at two national banks between 2014 and 2020.” He said he has sought the same information at State Bank of India and Punjab National Bank but they are yet to deliver the data.
